FLUXUS MINISTERIJA Fascinated by LITUANICA

2011-10-18

“Fluxus ministerija has found a place in Kaunas which surpasses all fantasies with usury”, said Artūras Zuokas to a newspaper PILOTAS.LT.

Fluxus ministerija, established one and a half years ago, has been managing alternative cultural projects in the building at Gediminas avenue in Vilnius, which once belonged to the Ministry of Health. It was a venue for more than one thousand various artistic and audio-visual events. Conception of Fluxus ministerija is to make creative spaces in unused buildings for art people allowing their constant creation and common, “brought-together” projects. “The complex of buildings of the former shoe factory Lituanica in the Old Town of Kaunas is an ideal place for Fluxus ministerija. Both, its location near Kaunas Castle and Neris, and the patterned space of workshops is an ideal place for self-expression”, said A. Zuokas to PILOTAS.LT after he had a view of the complex together with the delegation of Fluxus “ministers”. According to the sponsor of Fluxus ministerija, he was especially fascinated by the roof terrace which has a view of a fabulous space of the Old Town of Kaunas and the junction of Neris and Nemunas.

Such cultural sojournor is very acceptable to our company which administers the Lituanica industrial ensemble in the Old Town of Kaunas, as the detailed map of the whole territory, which is aimed at making 'a careful conversion which is close to the Old Town functionally as well as architecturally', is being prepared. Cultural function shall one way or another be integrated to the future development of the territory and while various processes of arrangement are ongoing Lituanica will be pleased to make a roof for the restless Fluxus ministerija.
