Baltisches Haus and IKI about to create a Future Trade and Service Centre in Balsiai utilizing technologies of the future

2015-11-11

The real estate developer and manager, Baltisches Haus company is going to build a conceptual trade and service centre in Vilnius in cooperation with the IKI trade network. It shall be designed together with the best professionals of various fields – environment protection, construction industry, trade – and the community of Balsiai. We hope that innovations of this future centre later shall be implemented in other IKI supermarkets as well.

According to Rimantas Micka, chairman of Balsiai community, Balsiai is firstly a place where people live, not users. “The trade and service centre must be human friendly. This means an opportunity to create work places and develop their businesses for neighbours, and exceptional architecture must bring joy to the eye. It is very important to have easy and safe communication, well organised traffic of public transport, bikes and pedestrians, and a safe place for walking. The green roof on this building and other eco-innovations that are planned are fantastic. We hope that Balsiai will become more beautiful and convenient to the people as it will be like the new and bright gates to our district of residential houses. It has been dark for so long”, says R. Micka.

“We wish to realise our dream – the creation of a future service centre. We have a solid background in construction and development, an international team of professionals and support of the progressive community of Balsiai to do so”, states S. Buteliauskas.

In the opinion of Saulius Buteliauskas, CEO of the company Baltisches Haus developing the project, creation of this trade and service centre will show how sustainable construction and architectural ideas are implemented in practice.

“We wish to realise our dream – the creation of a future service centre. We have a solid background in construction and development, an international team of professionals and support of the progressive community of Balsiai to do so”, states S. Buteliauskas.

The ultimate technologies of design, construction and renewable energy shall be applied in the process of creation of the future service centre. Great attention shall be paid to infrastructure, ecology, and the neighbourhood of Verkiai Regional Park. Automated bike parking and a green roof are only two examples of technologies that are to be implemented.

“We want to show a nice example of IKI, an example which is catching and which will help to improve all IKI supermarkets. Technologies and high demand on goods are not enough. We will need creativity and courage, people are waiting for innovations – it is time for this huge step forward”, says Berta Čaikauskaitė, the Head of Public Relations of IKI.

Design proposals of IKI in Balsiai will be presented for community consideration on 12 November. This project shall be executed in cooperation with JP Architektūra, Baltic Engineers and other partners.
