Organiser of the LITUANICA workshop-contest Baltisches Haus UAB is one of the major real estate project developers and managers in Lithuania – it manages a 1.5ha territory in Kaunas (complex of former factory buildings Lituanica). Following the recommendation of the Kaunas Architecture and Urbanism Experts' Council, Baltisches Haus UAB organised this urban-architectural contest in a larger territory than its own possessions: an almost 11ha territory centred between Kaunas Castle and Petras Vileišis Bridge.

According to Director of company Baltisches Haus UAB, this territory could be developed by three or four partners, and Baltisches Haus would be one of them.

“Investment in this territory could vary from 430 to 500 million litas. After the detailed maps have been approved, we could help the municipality to attract other investors, who could share the expenses of infrastructure”, says S. Buteliauskas.

According to the representatives of Baltisches Haus UAB, this territory is especially attractive to business: next to it there is the Old Town, the river and an important transport node.

This territory should be a logical extension of the Old Town and should perform several functions that are complementary and typical to old towns – commercial (trade, offices), residential and leisure.
