Until August 5, Panevėžys city municipality invites citizens to take a look at the design proposal of Panevėžys bus station prepared on the basis of the support agreement signed between Baltisches Haus and the municipality.
The design proposals by the National Culture and Art Prize winner Rolandas Palekas envisage the bus station with a passenger lounge, ticket offices, a driver’s lounge, administrative premises, an underground parking, etc. It will also cover the upgrade of the pedestrian and bicycle paths, installation of lighting fixtures, traffic safety measures, small architectural features etc.
“Rolandas Palekas, one of the most prominent Lithuanian architects and the laureate of the National Culture and Art Prize, prepared the design proposals for the Panevėžys bus station. The bus station, the platform with new plantations should be built on the site of the current lilac square, while preserving the most valuable plants. An attractive recreation area will be formed for Panevėžys residents and city guests in place of the current asphalted surface of the station. After implementing the project, the layout of the station and its surroundings will change essentially. All residents of Panevėžys are highly welcome to have a look at the visions of the new station presented by the architect and take an active part in submitting their suggestions”, says the mayor of Panevėžys Rytis Račkauskas.
“For more than a couple of decades, we have been developing commercial facilities in Panevėžys and renting premises for local business. At the same time, we contribute to the improvement of the city’s infrastructure and the renovation of public places. We are also the owners of the land parcel and the shopping centre next to the current bus station. We are concerned that our neighbouring bus station territory retains its value, is in good shape and attractive to citizen and city visitors, and the station itself remains in its place”, says Audrius Masionis, director of UAB Baltisches Haus.
